Mario L. Maiese, DO


Dr. Mario L. Maiese is a semi-retired, non-invasive cardiologist. He holds office hours three days per week, which consist of follow-up of the many patients he has accumulated over 43 years of practice, along with new patient consultations. His primary interest is in prevention of cardiovascular disease with counseling about diet, tobacco cessation, and exercise along with appropriate medical treatment for elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes as necessary.

A graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, Dr. Maiese attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, for medical school. He completed his medical residency and cardiology fellowship in Philadelphia, finishing his cardiology fellowship at Hahneman University Hospital in 1973.

Board Certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Maiese is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. As such, he gives student lectures at the school and has cardiology fellow and internal medicine resident preceptors that work with him in the office to deliver optimal patient care.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Osteopathic Internal Medicine. He publishes a monthly newsletter for physicians, Heartbeat, that is directly mailed to 2,000 doctors and is available on our website (
