John N. Hamaty, D.O., FACC, FACOI
Program Director, UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship

Dr. Hamaty is a 1988 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He performed his internship at Metropolitan Hospital, Philadelphia, where he was Chief Intern.  After internship, he obtained his internal medicine training at UMDNJ-SOM, Kennedy Hospital system, Stratford, New Jersey.  His Cardiovascular fellowship was at The Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, where he was Chief Fellow of Cardiovascular Diseases.  He is board certified in the four areas of: Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Critical Care and Echocardiography.   After fellowship training, Dr. Hamaty joined South Jersey Heart Group and has been an active member of multiple societies.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UMDNJ-SOM and course director for the second year medical student's cardiology module at UMDNJ-SOM.  Dr. Hamaty has won numerous awards including Teacher of the Year, eight out of the past nine years, and has been selected Delaware Valley Consumers' Checkbook- “Top Doctors-Cardiology-Summer/Fall 2003.  Dr. Hamaty can usually be found in the Cherry Hill, Stratford and Burlington offices, and always with a fellow, or two, nearby

Scott L. Siegal, D.O., FACOI
Assistant ProgramDirector, UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship

Dr Siegal completed his undergraduate education at Boston University ; Boston , Massachusetts then attended medical school at the University Of Health Sciences , College of Osteopathic Medicine , Kansas City, Missouri . Internship and medical residency training were performed at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital , Trenton , Michigan . He subsequently completed his cardiology fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ and Delaware Valley Medical Center , Langhorne , Pa. Dr Siegal, who is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, had practiced previously in Fort Worth , Texas ; Denver , Colorado ; and Hamilton , NJ before joining our practice in 2004. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology; with specialty board certification in adult echocardiography. Dr. Siegal is licensed to practice in NJ, Michigan, Texas and Colorado. He can be found in our Cherry Hill or Washington Township offices. Dr. Siegal facilitates the monthly ecg conference and is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic hours in the Cherry Hill office.

Jerome M. Horwitz, D.O.

Dr Horwitz is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His post doctoral training including internship and internal medicine residency were completed within the Kennedy Health System. His cardiovascular fellowship was completed at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
He is one of the co-founders of South Jersey Heart Group, presently practicing as a non-invasive cardiologist and can be usually found in the Cherry Hill office.
Dr Horwitz is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine and is the Medical Chief of Staff of the  Kennedy Health System.

 

 


Mario L. Maiese, D.O., FACC, FACOI

Dr. Maiese is originally from South Jersey , graduating form Camden Catholic High School and Saint Joseph 's College. He completed his medical training at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines Iowa , receiving his medical degree in 1969.  He completed his internship in Flint , Michigan and medicine residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia . After his fellowship in cardiology at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia , he started practice in 1973 in Sewell, NJ.   Dr. Maiese, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and one of the co-founders of South Jersey Heart Group, is board certified in medicine and cardiovascular disease and is licensed to practice in NJ and Pa. He is a non-invasive cardiologist practicing out of the Washington Twp and Berlin offices, and his area of expertise is preventive cardiology. Dr Maiese is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine and is the editor of Heartbeat , the group newsletter. Dr. Maise is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic hours in the Washington Twp. office.

 


Richard M. Gomberg, D.O., FACC, FACOI

Dr. Gomberg obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Upsala College in East Orange , NJ and then attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia . He completed his internship and medicine residency training at Zeiger Botsford Hospitals in Farrington , MI where he was chief medical resident. His cardiology fellowship training was performed at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ.  Dr. Gomberg is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Osteopathic Internists, double board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr Gomberg, who is licensed to practice in NJ and Pa, is a non-invasive cardiologist. He is one of the managing physicians of South Jersey Heart Group and can usually be found in the Cherry Hill  and Burlington office. Dr. Gomberg is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic hours in the Burlington office.


Jay L. Rubenstone, D.O., FACC

Dr Rubenstone completed his undergraduate work at Temple University in Philadelphia prior to his graduate medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His postdoctoral training, including internship and medicine residency, were completed within the Kennedy Health System.
He then went back to Philadelphia to finish his cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and subsequently joined our cardiology practice in 1985.
Dr Rubenstone, a non-invasive cardiologist, who is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, is licensed to practice in NJ, Pa and Delaware . He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine and can be found in our Cherry Hill and Stratford office.  Dr. Rubenstone is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic hours in the Stratford and Cherry Hill Office.


Surendra K. Bagaria, MD, FACC

Dr. Bagaria graduated from Nalanda Medical College, Patna India in 1978.His graduate medical education was all in New York; including internship at Jewish Hospital and Medical Center of Brooklyn; Residency in Medicine at Cabrini Medical Center and Cardiology Fellowship at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.   He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is the only physician in the group with 5 different board certifications. These include medicine, cardiovascular disease, critical care medicine, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.   Dr. Bagaria, who joined the practice in 1989, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.   Dr. Bagaria is a non-invasive cardiologist, licensed in NJ and NY, practicing out of our Washington Twp and Berlin offices. He is one of the present managing physicians of South Jersey Heart Group and is Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit in the Washington Twp Division of the Kennedy Health System.  Dr. Bagaria is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic in the Washington Twp. office.


Howard M. Weinberg, D.O., FACC

Dr. Weinberg, a native of South Jersey, graduated from Cherry Hill West and completed his medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 after completing his Bachelor of Arts at Gettysburg College in Pa. He completed his internship at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Stratford , NJ ; Internal Medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and Cardiology Fellowship at Seton Hall University , South Orange , New Jersey . Dr Weinberg, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, joined the SJHG practice in 1994. He is a non-invasive cardiologist and Principal Investigator for research activities of the South Jersey Heart Group. He is triple board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and nuclear medicine. He has licensure in NJ and Pa, serves on the Medical Executive Committee of the Washington Twp division of the Kennedy Health System and is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Tenet Health System and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  Dr Weinberg also works with the American Heart Association-Regional Board and can be found in the Washington Township office.


Joshua M. Crasner, D.O., FACC

Dr. Crasner got his undergraduate degree at Muhlenberg College , Pa and his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His internship and medicine residency were completed at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia where he was chief medical resident. He performed his postdoctoral cardiology fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mill, NJ—finishing in 1995 after which he joined SHJG as a non-invasive cardiologist. Dr. Crasner, a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Osteopathic Internists, is double boarded in internal medicine and cardiology. He is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Dr. Crasner is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Medicine at the University Of Medicine And Dentistry Of New Jersey School Of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJSOM) and has won multiple “teacher of the year” awards at Washington Township Division from the house-staff of UMDNJ-SOM.

 


Anil G. Kothari, MD, FACC, FSCA & I

Dr Kothari worked at Deborah Heart and Lung Center where he was Assistant Director of the Cardiac Cath Labs before joining SJHG in 1996. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the American Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventional Cardiology, and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr Kothari completed his post graduate medical education at the University of Bombay, India, where he received multiple awards. He was intern of the year at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York where he also completed his medicine residency. Dr Kothari finished his cardiology fellowship and interventional training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland , Ohio . He is licensed to practice in NJ and can usually be found somewhere around the cath lab at the New Jersey Heart Institute
(Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center).

 


Timothy P. Morris, D.O., FACC

Dr. Morris joined SJHG as our second interventional cardiologist in 1999 after practicing in Indiana for 3 years as an interventional cardiologist. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and presently has license to practice in New Jersey , Pennsylvania and Indiana .   He completed his medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and his internship and medicine residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Kennedy Health System. Dr Morris finished his cardiology fellowship and interventional training at Deborah Heart and Lung Center , Browns Mills, New Jersey in 1996. Dr. Morris, who is a clinical assistant professor at UMDNJ and received multiple teaching awards throughout his educational career, can usually be found at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.

 


Sivaraman Yegya-Raman, M.D., FACC

Dr Raman joined South Jersey Heart Group in 2004 after being an attending Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Deborah Heart and Lung Center for seventeen years. He had previously completed his cardiovascular fellowship at the same institution.   He completed his graduate medical education at Jawaharial Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry , India . Extensive postdoctoral training and experience were obtained in G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi, India; Rush Green Hospital, Essex, United Kingdom and finally as Chief Medical Resident in Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, New York.  Dr Raman, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and cardiac electrophysiology has had many research articles published in current medical journals. He has license to practice in New Jersey and Maryland and can be found in our Cherry Hill and Washington Twp offices. Dr. Raman is the primary educator for electrophysiology studies within the fellowship.


Willis E. Godin, D.O.
 2006 UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship Program Graduate

Dr. Godin relocated from Boston to Philadelphia where he received his undergraduate degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  He subsequently received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  His medical post-graduate training was completed at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.  He was Chief Fellow in the UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship.  After completion of his fellowship, Dr.Godin joined South Jersey Heart Group where he currently remains involved in the education and training of the fellows at UMDNJ. Dr.Godin is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology.  He is trained in all aspects of clinical and diagnostic cardiology.  He is also one of the few cardiologists in the South Jersey area trained and certified in performing and interpreting cardiac CT angiography studies (64-clice cardiac CT).  Dr. Godin is a preceptor for fellow ambulatory clinic hours in the Burlington office.


Thierry Momplaisir, M.D.

Dr Momplaisir joined SJHG in the summer of 2006 after completion of a year of Interventional Cardiology with peripheral vascular training at Habor-UCLA Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, California and a 3 year Cardiology fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. He completed a 3 year training program in Internal Medicine at Penn State University Hospital after completing his post graduate training at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa. Dr Momplaisir’s undergraduate training was at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in Brooklyn, N Y.  Dr Momplaisir is licensed to practice in California, New York and New Jersey and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He has published multiple research papers and is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Association of Black Cardiologists. He speaks French, Creole and has some knowledge of Spanish and can usually be found at the New Jersey Heart Institute (Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center).


Geoffrey C. Zarrella, D.O.
 2007 UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship Program Graduate

Dr. Zarrella completed his undergraduate course work at Albright College in Reading, PA before matriculating to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Zarrella completed his post-doctoral training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey -- School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ.  He served as both Chief Resident and Chief Cardiology Fellow during his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Dr. Zarrella is board certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine and Internal medicine.  He practices as an invasive (but non-interventional) cardiologist.  He can be found at any of our South Jersey Heart Group offices and Hospitals.

 

 

 

 



 

Troy L. Randle, D.O.

2009 UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship Program Graduate

Dr. Randle. is a 2003 medical graduate from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed is internship and residency at UMDNJ-SOM (Kennedy Health System/Our Lady of Lourdes Hosp) where he also served as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. Dr. Randle is currently enrolled in the cardiology fellowship with an expected completion date of June 2009.   Prior to medical school, he obtained his B.S. Biochemistry from Rutgers University – Cook College. Prior to his career in medicine, he spent several years working in the biotechnological - pharmaceutical  industry where he was a valuable part of various research teams. He currently resides in South Jersey and enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Dr. Randle is currently board certified in Internal Medicine and plans to practice as a clinical cardiologist at South Jersey Heart Group after completion of his fellowship.
